Birthdays of Google Contacts

Introduction

In addition to your calendars, you can also grant ChronoLink the permission to read your Google Contacts. If you do this, you can have ChronoLink create recurring calendar events for each contact where the birthday field is set (with or without a year).

Here are some example uses of this feature:

  • Replacing Google's built in "Birthdays" calendar in case it does not work
  • Customizing the events, e.g. changing the event color for certain contacts
  • Creating birthday events in another Google account or another system (e.g. Outlook.com / Exchange Online)

To set this up, follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to my.chronolink.app.
  2. In the Linked Accounts section of the settings page, locate the row for the Google account, click the â‹® button and then choose Authorize contacts access.
  3. Follow the displayed instructions. After you have granted access, you should be back on the ChronoLink settings page.

2. Create a synchronization connection

  1. Click the New connection button near the bottom of the page.
  2. Enter a Name for the connection, e.g. "Birthday sync".
  3. Open the Source selection list, locate the section for the Google account and choose the option "Contacts".
  4. Set the Target calendar for the birthday events. This can be any calendar that ChronoLink can write to, including those outside of Google.
  5. Set Triggers to "Scheduled".
  6. Use the options in Past events and Future events to configure the time range in which birthday events should be created.
  7. Finally, click the Save button.
